Not really, but it’s a catchy post title.
Smell – it’s the oldest sense, the one that can take us back to memories we didn’t even know existed. It’s easy for me to think of horrible smells (my dog’s farts are the worst), but I had to think a bit to come up with ten fantastic smells.
2. Coffee. I loved the smell even as a kid. Now that it is my life blood, I love it even more.
3. Fresh oranges. There’s a reason this scent comes out of the walls on the Soarin’ ride at Disney. The fresh citrus scent is salivating.
4. Giorgio Armani’s Acqua Di Gio cologne. I used to love the English Leather my high school boyfriend wore, but my nose has grown more sophisticated with age. I love this cologne so much I bought the women’s version for myself. But I still occasionally wear my husband’s when I want to feel tough and manly.

5. Jean Naté After Bath Splash. I had to google it to see if it was still manufactured, and it is – since 1935. This was my grandmother’s scent, and the first one I used when I was old enough to want to smell nice. According to Fragrantica.com, “this timeless classic possesses citrus, floral and spicy notes, such as lavender, jasmine, rose, carnation, lily of the valley, cedar, tonka bean, musk and sandalwood.” Blah, blah, blah. I just know it smells like Grandma.
6. Bleach. I don’t huff it, but I do love the smell, probably because I associate it with cleanliness. And lightened facial hair.
7. Freshly washed clothes. I especially love to smell clean towels. I know they smell the same as all the other clean clothes, but I’m not taking a deep inhale of a pair of undies – no matter how clean they may be.
8. Homemade chicken soup. Another Grandma memory – she made the best. Whenever I make it, I can’t help but think I’m doing her proud.
9. My kids’ freshly shampooed heads. This goes back to #1 – I will hug my kids and inhale their scent as long as they will let me. Cuz soon it’s gonna look creepy.
10. Any dinner that I have not cooked.
I suppose that would be kinda weird going around smelling random baby heads, but I think everyone would get it, well, women, but probably not men, or authorities, unless, they are women.

I forgot about oranges. As a child, I remember driving through the orange trees when the blossoms were on them. Orange blossoms. That was a wonderful smell.

I think my mom still has Jean Nate!! Totally makes me think of her getting ready to go out on a Saturday night and splashing that on. Love this post!

Best smell in the world – a sweaty little kid with Coppertone sunscreen on (especially if they’re fresh from a swimming pool)! Wish I could bottle that smell!

Bleach, in a mild strength and well ventilated area is pretty good!

I’m with you on everything but 5 and 6. Jean Nate always reminds me of old people! I also love the smell of chocolate chip cookies baking and the way fresh cut grass smells and when the house smells like pledge and lysol and I was not the one who cleaned.

Oh gosh I hope I don’t walk around town smelling like a grandma but I LOVE Jean Nate. It’s sold in Walgreens. That’s my summer scent. It’s so life and fresh. I don’t use the lotion because that’s too much. But I have the splash and a powder puff thing 😉 I love the smell of bleach too. I didn’t put that down because I thought it was weird.

I used to love the smell of coffee too… until I got pregnant with the twins. Ever since then, I cannot stand the smell of brewing coffee.

lol – this is the second time I’ve seen someone put a dinner they didn’t cook on the list.
They may sell it in drugstores; if you see it sneak a whiff! Funny about the dinner one – guess I’m not the only one who hates to cook.
Now I am thinking of the Old Spice my high school boyfriend used to wear. too bad such a nice scent is associated with such a jerk! (but then I should have suspected that when he switched to liberal bathing in Ralph Lauren Polo cologne. agh)
fresh bread reminds me of my grandma. and pies. and beet pickles. basically, just fresh made LOVE. 🙂

I so agree with you on the dinner thing. Everything smells better when I don’t have to make it. Or clean up after it.
Or meal plan. Or grocery shop. Why do our kids have to eat three meals a day – it never ends!

Funny, my husband is Thai and all his Thai family greet children, especially, by smelling their heads. It is like saying hello. They do it in an especially quick but loving manner. It sounds weird but it is pretty cute, actually.
My Granny also used Jean Nate. I haven’t thought about that smell in years. Maybe I should check it out. I don’t remember it being especially old smelling, right, just flowery fresh.

I love the smell of my kids’ hair after their showers. They use different shampoos, too, so each smell is unique to them which I love!
I love the smell of brownies baking in the oven…the whole house smells like chocolate – which is much better than the smell of the laundry room right next to the kitchen and the frequent smell of sweaty socks…plus, I get to eat brownies!! 🙂

I love the smell of baby powder (which is why I use it as the scent for my deodorant and I wear Love’s Baby Soft) even over 50! And, I love the smell of vanilla. So, anything baking with vanilla smells wonderful. Even better, if I didn’t bake it. Followed you from SITS. Have a blessed day!
