It’s the first Monday of the month, and you know what that means!
Okay, you probably don’t. I post My Love List on the first Monday of the month, but I skipped last month and no one seemed to notice. My delusions of grandeur have been shattered, but I’ll survive. And I will continue to write My Love List because when I learn about something awesome, I want to share it.
1. Mitscoots socks
This company followed me on Twitter, so I looked them up. Give, Get, Employ is their tag line. For every pair of socks purchased, they give away another pair to someone in need. Mitscoots also partners with organizations that help individuals get off the streets and into steady employment.
Of course, the product better be good too, or I wouldn’t be telling you about it. And it is. I bought a three pack of the women’s performance socks (“The Steve”), using the 20% off code that pops up when you go to Mitscoots.com. They are comfy, moisture wicking, and wash well. Most importantly, they do not slip down my foot while I’m working out. Socks that I have to constantly yank back out of my shoes drive me crazy.
This aren’t the cheapest socks around, but they are good quality. And it’s a way I can make a small difference in the lives of others.
2. Write on mugs
My coffee mugs look like a bad yard sale display. These mugs are basic white, but you can write on them. How cool would that be when you have company? You could serve in the mug your kid painted eight years ago, or in the freebie your husband brought home from work. Or you could give each guest their very own personalized mug. Just make sure they don’t stick it in their purse and take it home. Not that any of my friends would do that.
My friend got these mugs at Pier One. I don’t see them on the website, butΒ there are plenty similar ones in the marketplace and online.
3. Bare Minerals foundation
I’ve used the Bare Minerals makeup line for years, so when I had the opportunity to receive a free bottle of their newest foundation (along with a brush), I jumped on it. It’s called BareSkin pure brightening serum foundation, and it’s deceptive. It’s a liquid, but when you put it on, it has a silky feel more like a powder. It’s applied with a brush, and the directions say to use two drops. I thought there was no way two drops would be enough to cover my whole face, but it did. This bottle will last for close to a year, especially because I don’t use foundation in the summer.
Applying with the brush is best, but you can spread the foundation with your fingers too. Check out both items on the Bare Escentuals website or Sephora.com. (If you shop through Ebates, you can also get 4% cash back from Sephora. Don’t know about Ebates? Check it out here.)
4. Blueberry coconut baked oatmeal
I pin lots of recipes, and I eventually get around to making a few.Β But when I saw Katie’s BFD (breakfast for dinner) recipe on Pick Any Two, I had to try it immediately. I love breakfast for any meal, and this one looked hearty, healthy, and yummy. It totally was. We had it for dinner and then I had leftovers with a cup of coffee for an afternoon snack the next day. If you visit Katie for the recipe, stick around for awhile – she’s one of my blog loves.
5. Aqua Notes
(This is an affiliate link from Amazon, so I’ll get a few cents in my account if you purchase through them.)
There was a discussion among bloggers on Facebook a few weeks ago about finding time to write. Most of us squeeze time in whenever we can, and now that time can be in the shower (thank you, Jen Mann, for sharing this!). As soon as I saw these Aqua Notes, I ordered a pad, and through the magic of Amazon Prime it arrived the next day.
It really works, and it is going to change my life. I often “write” in my head, and I have my best ideas in the shower. No more writing on the shower door and hoping I can still read it when I get out – that wasn’t working very well.
What’s on your Love List this month? How cool are those Aqua Notes?
I had to laugh at your delusions of grandeur remark. I always think it’s funny when I feel like I have a series or tradition that everyone is “waiting for” and then I skip it or forget and nothing happens. That being said, this is a GREAT idea and if it’s not here next month, expect a message from me. π
I had never heard of write-on mugs- that may have changed my life! And I am making that oatmeal ASAP. I am an oatmeal freak, and I’m always looking for ways to mix it up. Thanks for some great ideas- you are amazing!
Thank you Stephanie – I’m glad you found a few things to love on the list!
I need #5! All my best ideas come in the shower. I know it’s because it’s the one place I don’t have my dang phone to distract me.
I think you’re right, Nina!
Wow! You find some pretty obscure things. I would not have heard of most if it weren’t for you. I think I’ll check out the Bare Minerals foundation.
Hopefully you like the obscure things I find, Carla – let me know!
See I thought you had done it. .. In my mind the love list was there for July. I love all this and since I’m on vacay I have time to order! Aqua notes. .. love it. Keep the love list coming. ..
Uhm, Aquanotes look like pretty much the smartest thing ever. I often do my best thinking in the shower (glad I’m not the only one!) but I’d often forget. Hmm… wonder why I always think in the shower. Probably because it’s the only time I don’t hear choo choo of vrooooom! I love your love lists π Have a great week, Dana!
I’m so glad you enjoy these lists, Caroline. Hope your week is great too!
Love those mugs! Sometimes when our family all gets together we will write each person’s name in Sharpie on a Solo cup. Your idea is much classier!
I’ve done the Sharpie on a Solo cup too – sometimes you need to go disposable!
Such CoooooOOL stuff, Dana.
I am on my way to check out Bare Minerals π xx
Let me know what you think, Kim!
Ok so I’m going to try the Bare Minerals. I don’t normally wear foundation, mostly because I’ve never figured out a way to apply it and have it look right. I’m totally inept when it comes to makeup, actually, which kinda sucks given that it’d probably help. When I do use foundation, I just spot-use it if that makes sense and I really like Dr. Hauschka’s line although it’s expensive.
Also? LOVE the aqua notes. Before BlogHer, I actually ran downstairs dripping to type something quickly because my phone was charging and so not on the bathroom sink where it usually is.
Yes, you need those notes to save your phone. I can’t imagine using your phone while dripping wet is good for it. And Dr. Hauschka’s line is good? I’ll check it out – I’m always looking around for something new.
It is good, I think. Really light and blends super-easily and naturally. Let me know if you check it out! I’m always curious as to what a cosmetic moron I am because well, I kinda am.
I swear I do my best thinking while running or showering, so that notepad is for ME! Also, I LOVE coffee, so anything “coffee mug” is awesome. Here’s my question: Have you read any favorite books this summer? I am always looking for favorite book recs!
I’ve read a few good ones – check this post: https://www.kissmylist.com/summertime-reading-easy/. There are other good recs in the comments too.
And I have the newest Outlander book waiting for me – but once I dig in I will be obsessed until it’s done.
I may need to get those Aqua notes! I also seem to do my best thinking in the shower (what is it about warm water getting the brain moving?)
Who knows, but it seems to be a common occurrence for many of us!
Do you need a waterproof pen? I had a conversation about this with Melanie the other day…I’m intrigued!!
The oatmeal sounds SO good. I’ll stay away π
It comes with a pencil that doesn’t smear in the water – it’s really amazing. You’d probably go through a pad a week!
I think I would – I LOVE standing in the shower thinking…though usually I sing.
I am going to try that baked oatmeal recipe for sure!!!
I need to go buy those coffee mugs… how fun would that be for my women’s group? π
Love your lists always Dana!!!! XOXO
Thanks Chris! You can see from the photo how we all had our own mugs at lunch – it was perfect! If you get the ones with the speech bubble, you could write nice things about each woman before lunch as a little pick me up!
Oh my goodness, you are so kind for featuring my baked oatmeal recipe here! Thank you so much, and I’m so, so glad you enjoyed it! And your review of the Bare Minerals Foundation is incredibly helpful; I’ve been on the fence about whether or not to buy it (I’m a dedicated user of their original foundation), but it sounds great!
(Also, you are one of my blog loves as well! So glad we’ve connected!)
Me too, Katie! I was happy to share your recipe – it was delish! Let me know if you try the foundation.
Those socks sound amazing. As does that blueberry oatmeal and I’m not a huge blueberry fan. I missed the discussion about the notepad too, but the comments here are cracking me up. I couldn’t tell you what I think about in the shower – I think I have songs running through my head and “I really need to…” thoughts so maybe I could use a notepad of my own for the to do list I apparently forget the minute I exit the shower.
I think that’s how it works – the memory is erased when you step out of the shower. That’s why I needed these notes!
The blueberry coconut baked oatmeal looks delicious!
Oh, it was!
Aqua notes sounds like an incredibly brilliant idea – definitely going to check those out!
Let me know what you think, Kim!
I love lists like this. I used to do something similar, but haven’t done it in a while, because…
Bare Minerals – I may have to check it out. I’ve been looking for something for coverage, but traditionally haven’t worn foundation. The day has come – I like your description, because I prefer powder. I’ll let you know.
Please do, Allie. If you get it at Sephora, you can return it if you don’t like it. If you don’t wear foundation you may find it a little heavy, but give it a shot!
Those socks would probably be good for my 50-mile walk. I need to get some good moisture wicking ones!
I think a 50 mile walk is going to end in sweaty socks, but moisture wicking should help!
Love Bare Minerals, so I may have to give that new foundation a try. I also want to try that recipe! Thanks for the new finds! π
You’re very welcome, Kerry!
I missed that FB convo, but I have got to get some of those AquaNotes!! Some of my best ideas come to me in the shower!
That Blog U FB group just keeps giving, Lisa – I was so excited to order them. Kind of pathetic how excited I was, but I’m owning it π
Hoyl crap aqua notes is definitely something I need! I always have the best ideas while I’m singing in the shower! Thanks so much for letting me know about them π
My pleasure, Shae!
I really love these lists! You do share really great products! I definitely pinned that recipe! Such a great company with a wonderful cause. I love it! Aqua notes? Bloggers share the most wonderful, crazy things! π
They do, don’t they? I don’t think I would have bought them if Jen hadn’t vouched for them – it sounds like they would never work. But they do, and they are awesome.
Aqua Notes is brilliant! I have definitely raced out of the shower with soap in my hair, dripping water everywhere, to write down the idea for a blog post or book I had in the shower!
And I Love Katie’s oatmeal.
You need that note pad then, Tamara. It’s the best eight bucks I’ve spent in awhile.
It’s funny when we skip a feature on our blog and we think the world will end…. and then we realize our readers will go on!! π I’ve tried bare minerals before with limited success… I’ll have to check out the new stuff, though I’ve become a bit of an Estee Lauder devotee lately. Have a great week!
I haven’t tried Estee Lauder, but I do like to try new products every so often. The nice thing about this foundation is that I don’t get powder all over my sink – I’m a messy makeup applier.
Aqua Notes? Waterproof notepad? I’m sold! (of course I am since I am anything-office-supply obsessed) I am not a big lover of make up but that foundation sounds like it wouldn’t be a mask applied to my face which is how I feel about most foundations. And I did wonder what happened to your monthly love list but assumed you are on vacation of sorts!
I was on vacation, but thank you for noticing its absence! The aqua notes are seriously awesome, and it is the strangest feeling to use a pencil and paper in the shower.
At some point last month I promise you I went to look for you love list. I’m sorry I didn’t say something π
I wish I could write the white mugs I already have.
I also hate when my socks slide down in my shoe!
I tried the banana/blueberry dish last month but mine was too sweet. I didn’t know I could not like “too sweet”. I couldn’t find unsweetened coconut so that was probably the problem.
Aqua Notes? VERY cool.
I’m glad you missed my list, Kenya – thanks for telling me that π And I bet the coconut was the problem – sweetened coconut is REALLY sweet and it’s a stickier consistency than unsweetened. I also used Splenda instead of brown sugar because I was all out.
I totally received the Bare Minerals foundation, too and I am totally addicted now. Love it and have been using it daily since I got it. Who would have guessed that two drops would cover your whole face! π
I know! I was skeptical, so I put way too much on my palm the first time around. I should have followed directions.
I love those mugs!! I actually love most all the stuff on your list…except those Aqua Notes. One of the ONLY places I don’t have to think, is in the shower. I must keep it that way!! π
That’s funny – I have some of my best thoughts in the shower. But if that’s your no-think zone, then more power to you!
