I am a perfectionist. I have been since I was a little girl. In fifth grade, I stood at the chalkboard struggling with a long division problem. I couldn’t get it, and the unwelcome tears slid down my face as I stared at the numbers. Miss Warnken put her arm around me and steered me back to my seat. I learned long division eventually, but it took time, and I had no patience for that.
Have you heard about the My Challenge Series? It was created by one of my dearest and first blogging friends, Kerri of Undiagnosed but Okay. It grew from a program Kerri spearheaded at her daughter’s elementary school as part of Special Needs Awareness Month.
Kids with special needs certainly have challenges. But all of us do, although they are all of different severity and scope. Kerri’s series shows us that our challenges are a part of who we are, but they do not define us. We are more than Autism, Low Self-Esteem, Down Syndrome, Food Allergies, Unorganized, Shy.
Please join me at Kerri’s blog as I share my challenge. I’ve closed comments here today, so head on over and show Kerri some love!
