We’ve picked the professional, now what? After over a month of research and visits, we have chosen the company to do our kitchen remodel. To continue with my somewhat ill contrived metaphor, if a kitchen remodel is a marathon, our next step is to have a good stretch before we start running.
Two weeks ago Kitchen Designer Guy came to the house with another Kitchen Guy from the company – he’s the tradesman; I think he will be our project manager on site. With them were Tile Guy and Electrician Guy. The purpose of the visit was for the other men to give Designer Guy an estimate for their services, so he can create a firmer quote and a contract for the kitchen remodel. Nothing really for me to do except notice how dirty my floor was as Tile Guy bent down for a closer look. And you know what happens when a man with a tool belt bends over…MY EYES, MY EYES!!!.
The following week, Matt and I went to the showroom to meet with Designer Guy. After a two hour marathon meeting, we had chosen our cabinet door style, and discussed tweaks to the original design. I left with three wood samples so I can take them with me when I go granite shopping. The contract was signed, and the first check was written. There’s no turning back now!
I am now scouring the internet for a new kitchen table and a pendant light (probably a drum shade) for over the island. I’m pinning photos like nobody’s business; my Pinterest boards have more pins in them than Hellraiser. If you want to check’em out, take a look and tell me what you think.
Next I’m off to granite distributors with wood chips in hand. Once we’ve decided on a granite and cabinet color, we can order the cabinets and get this party started!
Kitchen Remodel To Do List:
√Scour photos online, in magazines, and in person for ideas
√Visit showrooms, interview professionals, and get estimates
√Sign contract, tweak design, and start making material choices

Okay after seeing your post in my comments I was FINALLY able to sit and check out your blog! I Love it! I actually worked for some interior designers for a while and we specialized in bath & tile so we did a lot of kitchen remodels. I feel your pain! You will be so glad you hired someone instead of trying to do the work yourselves. I can’t wait to see what you picked out!

Thanks for taking a look! I am already so glad we hired someone, and I’m so excited that we are finally getting started!
